Coming from the Trás-os-Montes region, Portugal, Antônio de Azevedo Alves (his Antônio), together with other Portuguese, landed at the pier in Praça Mauá in March 1958. Initially, and for a very short time, he worked as an employee in a bar in the center of Rio de Janeiro, and then, after a brief visit to the Barreto neighborhood, in Niterói, to acquire its first business in Brazil: “Lanchonete Ibéria”, located at Praça do Rink, in the center of the then capital of Rio de Janeiro. In 1964, six years ago, therefore, living in the city, he opened another tavern on the corner of Rua João Pessoa with Paulo César in Santa Rosa. Ten years later, two more taverns acquired, in Rua São Lourenço, would close a cycle in Antônio's life that would not be resumed.
A tragedy would not only mark, but also redefine its destiny. Antônio had, in those years, become a prosperous businessman in the bar and snack bar business; but, during an assault, he is shot in the chest and is in agony, between life and death, in the CTI of Antônio Pedro Hospital for 15 days. When - happily - he recovers and returns to his routine, he realizes that the same bullet that had hurt him, had also definitely changed him. Just as when he decided to embark on that ship in 1958, as restless-minded people do, he would go on his way again.
Antônio would get rid of everything and, in a crazy attitude for many, he moved with his family in 1978 to a small town in the second district of Niterói called Cafubá. There, without knowing it, he would sow the unthinkable: a small grocery store in the front and a pension in the back marked by simplicity (only used "PF" for construction workers) would become what today is one of the most traditional gastronomic groups from Niterói, integrated by a restaurant (Seu Antônio) and a bar (Bar da Fila) whose line reaches the weekends, to the amazement of many businessmen in the industry, an average of 150 people.
Seu Antônio and Seu Antônio (creator and creature), despite the differences, in truth, they are one: personality everywhere. Whoever comes will see.
